KINeSYS In The Running Community

At KINeSYS, raising awareness about the importance of sun protection is at the heart of everything we do, as is promoting health and wellness through sport. Supporting grassroots organisations with a focus on active, healthy lifestyles is one of the ways KINeSYS is encouraging sun safety and spreading the message of sun protection whilst doing sport.Generation Run - KINeSYS Running Partnerships

Our Running Partnerships

KINeSYS is proud to partner with local Australian running groups throughout the country, which cater to runners at all levels, from beginners to elite sportspeople, true to our core message of ‘However you Perform’. These groups are dedicated to encouraging active and healthy lifestyles and promoting sun protection for their runners. Whether you’d like to find out how to start running, or you’ve been doing it for years, these groups are great communities and offer the encouragement, motivation, advice and training their members need to help them with their running. Here are our running partnerships:

  • Running Divas’ own Erika King has built an online community for female runners of all levels and from all walks of life. Offering training, support, motivation and inspiration, Running Divas is changing women’s lives one run at a time.
  • The Running Movement, based in Sutherland Shire NSW and surrounds believe that regular interval sessions and strength training, alongside great coaching and support are the keys to helping runners to ‘run happy’.
  • RK Pod is the Gold Coast’s largest running group. Their weekly group trainings encourage members, from beginners to advanced level runners, to join in and train in a safe, supportive and fun environment.

Our sun protection message is close to home

Our Australian running partnerships were formed to help raise awareness around sun protection, and provide running sunscreen to athletes and recreational runners. Our sun protection message hits home with many of our partners’ members, some of whom have been directly affected by the severe consequences of sun damage.

Founder of Running Divas, Erika King, has herself suffered from melanoma, whilst The Running Movement’s Kerry was also recently diagnosed with melanoma. Each of our partners has a strong focus on sun protection, and groups like Galeforce Running have a sun protection policy clearly outlined on their website.

Why Runners should wear Sunscreen

Anyone heading outdoors without adequate sun protection puts themself at risk from sun exposure. This risk particularly affects runners and other sportspeople who spend extended periods of time out in the sun. Many sunscreens can feel greasy and oily and unfortunately this has lead to many high performance athletes not applying sunscreen when participating in outdoor activities, for fear that it will negatively impact their performance. This is a huge concern as the risks of suffering from sun damage are extremely increased when exposed skin isn’t protected whilst outdoors. Furthermore, often the damage caused by inadequate sun protection isn’t seen until many years later, at which time it is often too late to take precautionary measures to prevent. This is why spreading the sun protection message and offering specially-designed sports sunscreens is so important for the sporting community.

We have our unique KINeSYS Spray Sunscreen formula is specifically for athletes and people leading an active and healthy lifestyle. Unlike many other sunscreens the KINeSYS formula is Oil-Free and non-greasy. This formula can help reduce the risk of skin cancer without affecting athletic performance. KINeSYS’s Spray Sunscreen range is designed to give a high level of sun protection (either SPF 30 or SPF 50), and is water and sweat resistant for up to 80 minutes, making it the ideal running sunscreen.

The lightweight formula dries quickly and allows the runner to sweat as normal, without dripping into the eyes or leading to overheating. Our 30ml bottle fits easily into backpacks and running belts, meaning never needing to leave for a run without it, whilst our 120ml bottle is large enough for the whole family, or for those who are out in the sun every day.

According to Cancer Council Australia, two out of three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they’re 70. This equates to around 14,000 people every year being diagnosed with skin cancer and leads to nearly 2,000 skin cancer-related deaths each year. Needless to say, those who spend more time in the sun are at a much greater risk.

How KINeSYS is protecting runners at all levels

With our running partners, we have been able to spread the sun protection message throughout the Australian running community and have encouraged many runners, from beginner level to elite athletes, to wear sunscreen on their runs. As this message makes its way to the wider community, we hope to raise awareness about sun protection.

We were delighted to be recently named Editor’s Choice for Runner’s World Magazine in their recent article on the Best Sweat-Resistant Sunscreen for Runners. KINeSYS’s SPF 50 Fragrance Free Sunscreen is non-comedogenic and oil-free sunscreen, making it safe for use on the face and body, and it fits easily in to your running vest or belt. This lightweight sunscreen is so popular with runners, and athletes of all kinds, thanks to its non-greasy, fragrance-free and fast-drying formula.

Whether you’re just staring out, or you’re training for your next marathon, a suitable running sunscreen should be an important part of your running routine. Our SPF 50 Fragrance Free Sunscreen is developed with our ‘However you Perform’ approach in mind, to provide all runners with superior sun protection which supports performance.
